Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 28, 2023

There’s a mystery within the walls of Ms. Ekhinos’ house and Vixen seems to know how to solve it. The power of a succubus is to look into the dreams of others and Vixen can take Ms. Ekhinos along for the ride. But who they discover is unexpected and might be more frightened than Candy ever was. Perhaps there’s a way for both Vixen and Ms. Ekhinos tp bring this new monster girl into their odd family and make her feel at home.

Fallowing on immediately from the prior work, there’s a really interesting exploration of Vixen’s power as a succubus to enter the dreams of others and how that is perceived by her. It’s unique and how she and Ms. Ekhinos find the hiding monster girl works really well. More so, when they find Silk and discover who she is and how the dream is used to reach out to her was really well done. Once out of the dream, and Silk is offered a place to be accepted and loved, that just was delightful.

The erotica with Silk, who is an Arcane, I thought was interesting, more so when Vixen found herself at something of the mercy of both Silk and Ms. Ekhinos. It was a unique piece of erotica and Silk’s appearance is well described. All of the characters involved are still trying to figure themselves, and each other out, which works well to start the story moving that little bit more forwards.

But much like the prior reveals of the other monster girls, the erotica is a bit over the top. That said, seeing Vixen being brought down a little works well and was amusing in how Ms. Ekhinos takes control of things. I hope there’s a path forwards for Ms. Ekhinos to be more of the mother all of the girls seem to be seeking and where that takes the series is what needs to happen.

Vixen remains important to the series and the feeling of her being the reason for the other monster girls to be here still feels like a story that needs to be told. Vixen isn’t evil, she’s a seductress and all of events seem to be a means for her to feed. Again, that’s not evil, far from it as the all of the monster girls seem to need what Ms. Ekhinos offers them. It’s that question which is the mystery untold

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

The unique look into Vixen’s ability to dream walk was really well done and was the highlight here for me. Past Vixen herself, the undercurrent of there being something unsaid by the monster girls is starting to wear a little thin and what Ms. Ekhinos really means to them all should be explored more than just the erotica. There’s a lot of story still not touched on and it really needs to be. Hopefully the next work will tell that too.
