Plot Summary

Professor Benedict Horne is a political prize, an object of desire, and a man starved of genuine connection. Every touch is a transaction, every whisper an angle. His partner, the brilliant and overwhelmed Headmistress Jynni, can command the very magic that holds their world together, but she can no longer find the time to command his body or his heart. She sees his pain, and in a moment of desperate love and administrative logic, she makes a tragic mistake.

To solve the problem of her lover's happiness, Jynni appoints a specialist to handle his "needs"—a liaison with an unparalleled understanding of pleasure, power, and faculty psychology. The appointee? Gina Lux. A predator in silk, a master manipulator, and the very woman who sexually assaulted Benedict on his first day at the university.

Gina doesn't just offer Benedict the explosive passion and intellectual combat he craves; she offers him understanding. Under her expert guidance, he rediscovers the dominance he thought he'd lost. But their perfectly engineered affair is a trap. With every session, Gina peels back his layers, and every intimate confession about his life with Jynni becomes a weapon in a war he doesn’t even know is being fought.

As Benedict falls deeper under Gina's spell, Jynni begins to sense a dark magic twisting the heart of her university and her relationship. Can their love be rebuilt from the ashes of such a catastrophic betrayal? Or will the politics of pleasure destroy them both?
