Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 30, 2023

There’s no turning back for Briana now that she has become a futa succubus. But that is becoming less and less a problem as time passes and her need overcomes her. But the gift which Mahalia offers is a curse of its own and Briana has to decide if she’s really willing to claim her best friend.

This work continues immediately after the prior work and tells of how Briana changes, both physically and mentally, as her needs as a succubus take over. There’s a clear shift in Briana’s personality as this unfolds and Mahalia encourages her to embrace what she has become. Mixed into this is the addition of a third character, Stacy, who finds herself at the mercy of the pair of futa succubi.

There’s a very short piece of futa erotica through that which feels really rushed and honestly a little disappointing. Briana’s transformation similarly is rushed, there’s almost no resistance to what happens. Much of this comes to the length of the work, which really is far too short for everything that happens to the characters.

Once more the story reads like a piece of roleplaying, both in dialogue and in narrative, which is a shame. The work reads oddly, there’s a lack of heat at times which was disappointing. More so, the real problem comes in how fast the story glosses over Briana’s transformation. There’s hints of her resisting, but then that falls apart in a paragraph and all that Briana can think about is using Stacy for her needs and then becoming entwined with Mahalia where the story closes for this part of the series.

It’s a shame that this work continues to be so very short and rushing through what happens to Briana and Stacy at Mahalia’s hands. There’s no explanation as to how Stacy got there, there’s no time spent in Briana being taught about her powers by Mahalia. The story just needs to spend more time to develop things before moving on and it isn’t.

There’s still a need for some editing overall. The dialogue reads a bit odd, the narrative continues to be scattered. Beyond that the story itself could really use more depth and time spent to expand on things more. It’s interesting, but the feeling of this being an RP remains in my thoughts. Most of all, this is still a pamphlet in length and adding to the story would help things to be so much better than they are so far.

Two and a half out of five pitchforks.

With Briana’s transformation seeming complete, the question becomes where the series goes from here. But that’s less important than making the dialogue sound better and the story flow in a more crisp and involving way. There’s a good story here, it just isn’t getting a chance to be told and it should be.
