Plot Summary

Saniyah Carter’s life had been turned upside down, when she finds out that the man she is engaged to Edmond, is not only sleeping with her sister, but the King of Hell himself, Lucifer. The parents that she always obeyed and trusted, had sold her into marriage to him in exchange for power and money. When she tries to back out of the marriage, Lucifer threatens to kill and destroy everyone that she loves.

Reeling from the betrayals in her life and her impending marriage made in hell, Saniyah spends a passion filled forbidden night, with Devil a dancer that she met at her bachelorette party. What she thinks is one night of passion, turns into a permanent bond to her future husband’s son. When Lucifer finds out, he declares war against the newly mated pair.

Devil and Saniyah are now on the run and trying to find allies in the fight against Lucifer. Devil goes to his former best friend Pola for help. The problem is, Pola wants Saniyah in his bed. An offer is made to Saniyah, that will test her morals and push her sexual limits.

Will Saniyah give herself to Pola for help? Or will the price of temptation, be too much to pay?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on December 14, 2018

Saniyah’s trials and tribulations gather steam and threaten to drive her fate closer to her and to Devil. There might be no escape from their fate so it seems. But sometimes the fates can be changed given the discovery that a soul’s want can change anything and everyone.

The work follows on immediately after the events of the prior work and mainly circles around Saniyah and Devil trying to figure out their relationship, the world around them, and the threat posed by it. Much like the first work the story rushes through the chapters, drawing in new characters and others from the prior work. It’s more an adventure than anything else with a bit of erotica here and there to add some spice to some of the scenes.

As in the first work, Devil is the incubus of the story, but he’s somewhat more fleshed out here. There’s more told about his world, what he faces by his and Saniyah’s decisions and what might be next for them. His character becomes a bit less action oriented and more of a lover to Saniyah, which made their story read better overall.

There is very little in the way of erotica to be found and what there is felt as rushed as the rest of the story did at times. More of a means to an end, there didn’t feel like a lot of character development came from those scenes save for dealing with a conflict Saniyah had with another character and it was an important moment.

Save for Saniyah, Devil and two minor characters, the rest remained static and felt like additions to the story. They were there to help things move on, but otherwise they just didn’t feel that important. The character development was mainly with Saniyah, which I thought made her a far better character than she was in the first work.

Still, the story felt rushed again and while that was part of how things unfolded and the problems encountered, I really would have liked for Saniyah and Devil to actually talk to each other more than they did. There’s a lot of questions still not unraveled by the end of the series and some of them could have been dealt with as a whole.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

The series ends on a note that offers a number of paths that could be taken onwards. The strife that surrounds Saniyah isn’t really over, it really can’t ever be considering the past of the characters that everything that happened. A happily ever after is there, but to get to that point will take a lot for all of the characters to get through. Perhaps the question that I wonder about with regards to Saniyah, and it’s one that really could alter why things happened and what everything means, would be something to explore. It certainly would be a place to start and see where that goes.
