Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 5, 2020
There are some secrets that should never be revealed, truths that bring about something that can never be escaped. One never knows what secrets are held by those you trust after all.
The work is a taboo horror story with a bit of what seems to be a little bit of a succubus theme that crops up as the horror unfolds and the secrets of a family are revealed. It’s so very dark in tone, the ending is especially so which, given everything that happened before, really was not that much of a surprise.
The female characters in the story have something of a succubus aspect to them, most of that being shaded in odd moments of lucid dreams, awakening to their needs, and, at some points, the main character being used in a way that feels very succubus-like.
At the same time, the story reads a bit lost, the horror takes over and directs things very quickly and overall the story just didn’t appeal to me.
Two out of five pitchforks.
It’s very much an erotic horror story with the horror coming to the fore very quickly. The work ends in a very final way, the fate of the characters being somewhat telegraphed before it arrives. It is horror, and as such I really couldn’t find my way into the story. Still, there is a very strong succubus aspect overall which had it’s moments nonetheless.
