Plot Summary

They say home is other people.

A half-fae performer with a soft heart and a dark history. A gay incubus searching for love instead of lust. A curious wizard and a genius doctor, friends by choice... or circumstance. Two lovers sharing a body and a past. And Halo, a starry-eyed dancer, who just found out she isn’t nearly as normal as she looks.

When her mother reveals that Halo has only two years of humanity left, she’s forced out of her childhood home and into the inhuman city of Embervein. Everything she knew is wrong, and the world is so much stranger than she can handle on her own. Chance sends her to the weathered door of an absurdly normal wizard’s tower with a barely visible sign -- Room for Rent (no dogs).

Halo’s new roommates are as bizarre as they are kind, and her ignorance of inhuman culture betrays her at every turn. Her life is falling apart. The clock ticks ever closer to the day her hidden genes are revealed.

Can she find her place among these strangers? Or will she be forced to face the truth of her species alone?
