In our time, in our world, there are frightening creatures lurking in the shadows. At first sight, they won't scare you, they'll be gentle, they'll put you at ease, they'll gently corrupt you.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on September 21, 2025

The call of the succubi is unending and ever-present. They whisper, tease and promise in the darkest places of one’s soul and mind. For some they heed the call and fall to their own desires, and find their goddess waiting for them forever.

The work is a mixture of succubus seduction, mind control, domination and transformation which combine into a series of vignettes. They tell the story of various souls coming into the orbit of succubi, falling to their nature and the needs of the soul themselves.

While there are moments of erotica, it’s more focused on the domination aspects overall and then the transformation which follows. It’s written well to tell that story, if perhaps leaving some details a bit too shrouded for my liking.

The succubi of the work, and there are so many of them to be discovered, range from being seductresses to dominatrixes, through priestesses of their goddess. There are undercurrents which connect them together, but they are not all the same. They are not one-dimensional or thinly written either, they have a vice, a tone, and there’s no question of them being just this side of evil temptation.

As a succubus transformation, and for that matter, succubus domination story, it works well and tells the story in a way that interested me. I do think that it is a bit scattered at times, there are points where the story seemed far too rushed and I wish it hadn’t been.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

The work really needs a follow on, to flesh out this universe more, to see things from the other side would be interesting as well. There are a lot of questions and threads left tangled and feeling incomplete. Perhaps a deeper look into the goddess herself might bring something that I think is missing here.
