Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on August 7, 2022

Sometimes one can make a difference in believing. A mortal can believe she can bring a demon to be more than they know. A demon can see the way to believing in love once more. A family can discover themselves by believing in themselves. Sometimes a succubus can rediscover their own belief in themselves.

The third work in the Hell’s Horny Angels series picks up shortly after the last work and continues to explore the relationship of Althea and those she calls her family. Mixed in are moments of pleasure and joy, passion and ecstasy for the characters within the story. But there’s also a lot of self-examination which lays out a very well told story of rediscovery for them all.

Overall the story focuses on the development of the characters, the expression of their personalities, what drives them and what they believe. It’s especially telling for Althea as her relationships become a bit more complex, her past returns and has a telling effect on her current loves and live. I thought Morgan coming to terms with herself was well done, she’s really developed as a character and where she goes in the future will be a wonderful story to see.

The erotica is warm, passionate and a delight to read. The sensuality explored gives an emotional impact that acts to push the story and characters forward and isn’t simply for the sake of it happening. It’s not lust so much as it is the expression of love freely given in all of its forms.

The long build up to the confrontation between Althea and her family with Kathleen and Lorelei brings with it a lot of mythos building which I really liked. When that happens the raw emotion between them all is expressed in a way that forces them all to confront what they believe in and what their own truths mean.

Really good storytelling brings with it a reason to reflect on what came before and how it all pieces together. In Althea being forced to deal with a truth she didn’t expect, it gives something for her, and the reader to think about. The story comes to a climax which reminds Althea that the truth will set one free, if they are given the opportunity to do so.

Five out of five pitchforks.

A really telling story of Althea, her family, and the world around them. Perhaps a bit melancholy at times, but the joys of seeing Althea and her family together tell, I think, far more than I’d expected. Ending on a very interesting point and leaving a lot of story paths to explore bodes well and I do wonder want comes next. With all that came in this work, the truths that Althea and Morgan come to see in themselves, my delight in this story universe continues on.
