Plot Summary
A lonely knight wanders the land helping those in need until he falls in love with a beautiful siren of the woods. Based upon the John Keats' poem/ballad "La Belle Dame sans Merci," "The Beautiful Lady without Pity" is tale about the destructive powers that love can have on an individual's life. Falling in love is as much a choice as it is instinct, and although it may seem like a gift, sometimes, it is a gift better left unopened.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 29, 2018
A knight set on a quest, a mysterious woman hiding a terrible fate, and a world of regrets and passion ever tangled.
The work is a very short, what I call a pamphlet, fantasy story with a little bit of erotic tone for an instant before the truth behind the mask shown to the main character is stripped away. The story is very moody, a bit lost within the secrets meaning to be held to the last and in doing so that works well to hold things together as they inevitably unravel.
The seeming succubus of the work is a temptation and a trap for the main character. She’s not exactly a succubus, but her effects on the main character, and the secrets that are revealed, seem to make that a very possible truth for her even if those aspects are shaded away.
Three out of five pitchforks.
A short and compelling story both in the mood and the atmosphere that comes through. It’s a bit scattered on the edges, but overall this work needed more time to develop towards the fuller story that felt like it was lurking, but did not appear fully.
