Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 19, 2026

Amelia has a problem and she has no idea what is causing it. But her professor Gavin has a very good idea. She isn’t the first succubus he has seen, and that knowledge will take them on a journey through their needs and passion for each other and what their future holds.

The work is an erotic hot flash with an older man, younger woman romance that turns on the changes in Amelia as she becomes a succubus. As that unfolds, Gavin helps her to understand through his experience with another succubus in the past. It’s very much a slow burn story, the heat takes time to develop and once past the preamble of hints and innuendo, becomes something of a light dominance and submission tale with a bit of closure for both characters.

Ameila, the succubus of the work, does not appear with horns and tail or other aspects of a succubus in her. She is more enraptured by her new found sexual need and cravings that at times overwhelm her. The transformations are in her character, her thoughts, and the relationship she has with Gavin. That is all interesting and adds to the heat of the story, but it’s really not enough.

Much of that comes from the skimming of what it means to be a succubus in this universe, what their history consists of is never explained and that bothered me. It’s hinted at, suggested, teased from time to time, but never comes to the fore to make Ameila becoming a succubus something more than just being about the sex.

Three out of five pitchforks.

As a succubus coming into her powers story it is interesting, there’s somme lovely heat and it is a fun read. But there is so dearly little explored of Amelia’s new found nature and that felt like a part of the story needing to be told. Much like the existence of succubi in this story universe, a bit thin on detail and it made me wonder.
