Plot Summary
In the shadows, forbidden desires ignite, and salvation becomes the ultimate temptation.
Abigail Harper is no ordinary healer. In the quiet, judgmental village of Gracefall, she hides a dark secret: a demonic nature she battles to suppress. Haunted by forbidden dreams and the sins of her past, Abigail longs for redemption—but her power whispers promises of liberation, seduction, and destruction.
When Jonas Ward, a devout farmer, confesses to visions of Abigail in his dreams, and Pastor Preston grows suspicious of her presence, the fragile walls of her humanity begin to crumble. As desire, fear, and supernatural forces collide, Abigail must choose between denying her true nature or embracing it—knowing the price of surrender could be both salvation and damnation for herself and the village.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 22, 2025
Abigail is a healer with a secret, one that she battles with every moment. There is no respite to be found when temptations exist, hatred lurks, and those around her whisper and deride her. But one can only bend so long, can resist their nature to a point. When a soul is lost because of another’s darkness, there is no escaping the vengeance of a succubus when her hope has been torn away.
The work is a very well written tale of self-examination, loss, fates entwined and the darkness waiting in souls for the chance to be freed. It’s very much a tale of Abigail trying to deal with her succubus nature, but being thwarted at every turn by evil with their own agendas.
While there are some erotic moments in the work, it isn’t about this at the core. The erotica adds a bit of depth to the story in the same way the smattering of horror aspects are used to reinforce Abigail’s true nature when the moment arrives to do so.
Abigail is not at all stereotypical as a succubus, she’s something between a fallen angel and a succubus, more perhaps of a mixture of the two. Her monstrous form isn’t over the top, it makes sense for her and is quite telling when the succubus she is comes fully out and those that face her discover what their true souls are.
Abigail’s story is, quite simply, breathtaking. Never simple, always at odds with herself and others, but with all that there was still the hint of hope. That really mattered for me, and how things close felt right and as well offered a sense of what the future might be and what Abigail might make of it.
Four out of five pitchforks.
I would really like to see a following story, to see what her future brings and what comes next. Perhaps the past might return in an etherial way which would be quite telling I think. Regardless of that want, a very well told story that is very much worth a read.
