Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 12, 2018
All towns have their secrets and for one town those secrets are something unexpected. Things go bump in the night, but everyone knows what is disturbing the peace. For some, they are closer than one might believe them to be.
The work is a collection of stories about various supernatural characters and events set in the same small town. The stories are something of vignettes, little hot flashes, that tell a story about one or a handful of characters before closing the story and moving onto the next.
At times a mystery, more often a creeping romance, each is interesting in their own ways and are very much page turners throughout. There are some flashes of erotica, but they don’t really become the core of the story and overall that was really for the best.
In the collection, the character Nicholas is an incubus and he is somewhat a side thread in the story he appears in. Not evil or stereotypical, he’s something of a tease, a flirt, and isn’t really developed as a character as his role is a rather minor one overall.
Three out of five pitchforks.
It’s a story with an incubus as one of the minor characters and as such, overall the story really isn’t about them. With that said, the story is interesting and complex enough to hold my attention. Otherwise, with regards to my interests, it realy doesn’t quite manage to be that as much as I wanted things to be.
