Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 29, 2025

The work is described as an exploration of the succubus mythos and its history, but reads more as a presentation of the information that is available online from several websites, most notably being Wikipedia. The beginning of the work almost exactly provides the sub-headings and text from the succubus Wikipedia article, which is a real shame.

The remainder of the work feels very much like a web crawl for information on succubi and then pasting it into a manuscript. As such, the information is repetitive with little in the way of original thought to reflect on what is given.

Two out of five pitchforks.

Mainly a presentation of online sources, this is not really what the book summary suggests it is. The lack of original thought or reflection on the information provided is very disappointing and I expected a lot more, but that didn’t happen from the very first page.
