Plot Summary
In the hedonistic port city of Rivenwall, theft, murder and mayhem is common place. Filthy taverns and brothels occupy most of the market district and there is little love for those that try and enforce the kingdom's laws.
After a routine job, two thieves named Charon and Riley celebrate at the Bear & Grin, one of Rivenwall's more popular drinking spots. But when the guards somehow get wind of their little caper, Charon is forced to go underground for answers. A violent ambush later, he escapes into The Veil - a labyrinth of tunnels that was thought to exist only in legends. He stumbles upon a room with a beautiful woman seated on a throne. The only problem is this is no ordinary woman and the things she wants are things only a man can provide.

The life of a thief is complicated and when Charon steals the wrong thing, he finds himself being caught in a trap that has been waiting for him for a very long time. This particular trap is seductive and irresistible and when the key is turned, there’s no going back for him.
The story is based in a fantasy universe that has some D&D aspects to it. From the start, the story moves quickly and it mainly focuses on Charon being drawn to the succubus of the work, who isn’t named. Charon is interesting, and is a well rounded character to carry the story. The succubus is delightfully seductive at her first appearance, and does take the story to the erotica quickly.
The erotica has some good heat, certainly the moments with the succubus are delightfully fun. While she is a demanding creature, she’s not over the top or plays to just being a succubus. There’s a purpose to her and what she does. There appears to be some thought to her and hopefully that means she will be appearing throughout the series going forwards.
The story is very good, the characters aren’t two dimensional. There’s an interesting plot at the core and it does bring with it a lot of hope that there’s more good to be found as things continue. I’d like the succubus, if she is one, this can only really be inferred, to have her name revealed. The other thing I’d like is that she not be stereotypically evil and that’s all there is. She seems too good a character in form and personality to be that and nothing more.

Is she a succubus? It would seem like it, knowing her name would be nice and I’m sure that will come as the series continues. I’m hoping she’s more than just evil, and perhaps that “true” form which appeared was an illusion of her. All that said, the hints given at the end of the story about Charon are intriguing and we’ll see where that goes. An interesting start, hopefully the series will be as good.
