Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on November 2, 2025
The queen is a force onto herself, but there are others who oppose her and seek something more beyond the state they find themselves in. The passions are never ending, and the results might be more than any of them expected.
The work is a fantasy adventure with a surprising amount of political intrigue wrapped up in the various plots that unfold. The characters are strongly written, there is a lot of passion to them and how things unfold is both a delight and so very tragic really. It’s not erotica by any means, though there are connections between various characters that suggest events and what is revealed sets up some events that unfold unexpectedly.
Lysandra, the succubus queen of the story, is very dominant and controlling. She’s not quite stereotypically so however. She is single-minded at times, her succubus nature comes out but fleetingly and that was a bit of a shame. Something more of her being a succubus, a temptation, a seductress to achieve her goals and seeing that play out would have been interesting.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
It’s a complicated story, really quite well told, but there’s parts of the story missing for me at least. Most of that comes from really not enough told about succubi in this universe and that’s a bit of a shame. Lysandra is interesting, but the question of what’s beyond her was something that I would have liked more about.
