Plot Summary

A demon once summoned is bound to his witch.

That is the first rule of demon summoning. But don’t blame me for not knowing! I just found out I’m a witch.

All I wanted was a hot pumpkin spice latte on a cozy, rainy day. What I got was a demon crawling into my bed at night. He has horns, a tail, hooved feet, and a body worth being damned to Hell for.

I never thought soul corruption could taste so delicious.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 16, 2024

All Ginny wanted was her favourite hot beverage, she didn’t expect that Murmur would appear, horns, tail, hooves and all. It’s a surprise to learn she is a witch, it’s more of a surprise when she finds that there’s something about Murmur she can’t resist and isn’t sure she really wants to anyway.

The work is a slow burn romance with little sparks of heat mixed with desire that tells a lovely story. While there is heat and the passions are lovely, it’s not exactly erotica and really it doesn;t need to be so. There’s a good deal of time spent to develop the characters and their relationship which worked really well.

At the same time, there’s a bit of mind control, or rather influence, around the edges. As well, the pitfalls for Ginny are really strongly told and hang over the story throughout. Mixed with this are the self-examination that both characters have with themselves in trying to come to term with their own desires and hopes.

Murmur, the demon of the work, isn’t exactly an incubus, but at the same time there’s a certain sexual power in him that makes it part of his nature. Somewhat stereotypical in form with horns, tail and hooves, there’s a few other aspects that add to his physical attractiveness. Beyond that, it’s his desires to be more than what his role is. What interests him, the thoughtfulness shown, makes him a far more interesting character than I expected when he first appeared and that was a pleasant surprise.

It’s a very cute story with a lot of twists and turns that work well with the characters. How the story closes is very open-ended and really it fits the work as a whole. I do find myself wondering about a few aspects of the story which weren’t explored and what they are like. It could well be another story for this author to explore, the idea seems like it could go somewhere given the chance to do so. Perhaps not all is as what the characters believe or are told and that’s interesting.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

A lovely story of romance, self-discovery and the search for one’s own truth. Perhaps a bit scattered here and there, possibly a little lost at points as well. But along the way the characters are more than where they started and it’s a delight to watch that unfold.
