Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 7, 2019

The middle of nowhere is dark and foreboding, one never knows what lurks in the shadows or may come out to capture a wayward soul for their own amusement. Brian has seen many strange things in the desert, and Luna might well be the strangest of all.

The work is a mystery wrapped around some erotic scenes and tied together by the evil that one succubus can do when she is let loose to do so. It’s quite a captivating tale, the characters, both main and minor, are well fleshed out and there’s a lot to enjoy in the mix of heat and horror that comes with the story.

Luna, the succubus of the work, isn’t quite a stereotypical creature of evil, though she rides the edge of that at many points. Very much a seductress overall, there’s a very dark edge to her that builds over the story and there’s a point when she becomes eminently unlikeable for various reasons. Some of that is her nature, some is the scenes where she is very much an over the top femme fatale in every way. It’s a shame that her full story isn’t told, but she’s a means to an end more than anything else really.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

A bit of mystery, a dash of adventure, characters that have flaws and issues which add to the complication of everything that happens. The work ends in a way that makes sense for the characters, and if I am honest, it’s something close to what I had expected would happen with Luna eventually. A very telling and captivating read and I rather enjoyed the quirkiness of it by far.
