Biography

The first reincarnation of a Lilithborne that Lilith recovered, Maria is Lilith's connection to God. Unlike Danny, whose angelic nature is largely suppressed due to his own volition, Maria communes with God regularly and exercises His authority and power. Between her, Danny and Ruby's knowledge of the arcane pantheons, Chateau Aensland is a divinely guarded shelter.

She is also the oldest Lilithborne and has the most experience with the outside world, and is sometimes called upon to do errands when Lilith cannot leave the Chateau and Sara is otherwise occupied.

Trivia

  • Before she met Vera Hayes, Maria was a feminist scholar.

  • Maria, along with Lupe, Ruby and Melissa, exist as pure spirit without mortal bodies.
  • In "Children of the Mist", Selene calls Maria "Miriam Mijdel" in a dream. This is a reference to Khalil Gibran's book, "Jesus the Son of Man", where Mary Magdalen calls herself "Miriam of Mijdel".
