Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on November 21, 2025

Things are really bad for Dave and a call for some companionship might not be the best idea he’s ever had. But Karen is something else, something beyond anything and anyone else. There is a reason for that, she is a succubus, and has her own designs about what she wants to do, and with, Dave.

The work in a delightfully fun story of wishes, struggles and hope mixed into an encounter with a very unique succubus who has her own problems needing a solution. It’s quite a lot of fun from the first page, to see Dave tell his world, to watch as Karen appears and they connect in unexpected ways. It’s really not erotica overall, those there are moments of heat that add to the story and don’t feel out of place or silly. It’s when Karen reveals herself to be a succubus that thing became just so fascinating to me.

Karen, the succubus of the story, is anything but stereotypical. She’s alluring, a temptation certainly. But she’s not exactly evil, more mischievous and I loved that very much. There’s no horns or tail to be seen, but there are glimpses of her being the succubus she is. There’s also little teasing hints of her nature, her story, and that of the succubi in this story universe that I really wanted to know more about. With that said, there is a hint of her more devilish nature as well, but it’s almost in passing, an offhanded remark and it added a lot to her personality too.

Four out of five pitchforks.

I really want to see a follow on story about these characters. The story is amazing, the characters just fit together in the right ways. The work is really a lot of fun and mystery which offers a lot of places for the characters to go. There are so few stories that amuse me like this one did and it would be a shame for this to be all there is to be.
