Plot Summary
Misty had been having awful luck when it came to dating. As a young, attractive college student, she could not understand why she could not seem to find a man who desired her enough to give her a good and proper lay. After a series of close calls, cancelled dates, and disinterest from men, she was ready to give up on sex altogether.
Then she found some ancient texts in the school library, she began to form a plan—an insane and dangerous plan. Summoning a demon wouldn’t solve her problems, would it? Yet night after night she began to receive visit from a dream lover, who showered her with adoration but left her paralyzed in her own bed. Had she really summoned a creature from beyond, or had she slipped into madness? And what price would she ultimately have to pay for getting what she had so desired?
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on May 20, 2018
Misty is frustrated and so very angry with the world around her. Everyone else can find their sexual release, but she’ll be damned if she can manage that. But deciding to summon a demon to give her all that she wants might damn her instead.
The work is a short erotic hot flash that follows the main character in her frustration towards her choice to summon what seems to be an incubus and then falling to their wiles and power both in dreams and in the real world. For the majority of the story, the purpose is to show her frustration, the need within and why she finally turns towards the really dangerous choice she makes.
As a result, the incubus of the story, who is never given a name, nor speaks a word throughout, is present in the last handful of pages. He’s something of a tease, a mysterious dominating lover with a single thing in mind to the last page. That is interesting, some of the dreams have a lot of erotic heat as does the real world situations that Misty finds herself in. But the incubus is a shadow, without personality or voice outside of the sex and that felt like something was missing from the story.
Two and a half out of five pitchforks.
There is really very little in the way of an incubus story in this work overall. Yes they do seem to appear, though it’s more of a haunting than anything else. The story ends in a very open-ended way, and at the same time it’s very clear that the main character will be having a lot of problems going forward. It would have been nice to place some sort of closure to this story, but what is left are lots of questions and things to wonder about.
