Plot Summary
Jonah’s excited to keep working with Ez and the others at Sensual Playthings, but there’s one thing he wants before that – Ez himself.
Ez doesn’t want to lose control. When Jonah takes control, it’s a surprise to both of them, but something Ez is willing to go along with to make sure they’re both happy and safe.
Only, Jonah wants more. He wants Ez to take him, to own him, and to use his true form to drive Jonah out of his mind. How far will he have to push to get what he wants?

Jonah has almost everything he wants, every encounter has been leading to this moment. A deal to be made, an offer to be accepted. But can Jonah find the way to Ez’s heart and what happens when their needs overcome them both.
The work is a slow burn piece of male/male erotica with the added heat of one of the characters being an incubus. It’s not simply the characters falling into lust, though that is part of the heat. It’s something of a negotiation of a relationship, what each of them needs, and then a choice made which is interesting and unexpected, which takes the story in a direction that fits the main characters well.
The slow building up of the sexual tensions works well to give both characters depth. The exploration of what Jonah, the main character, wants is complex and heartfelt in his need. Similarly, Ez, the incubus of the work, has his own attraction to Jonah, expressing both that need and the dangers of his incubus nature. That mixture of danger and very raw sexual need fits them both really well.
Ez is not at all a stereotypical incubus, his nature is predatory at some points, but also there is a battle within himself to control those instincts for Jonah’s sake. That creates a situation leading to a power shift that seemed perfect. Ez’s true nature fits his personality well, the descriptions of his incubus form, horns, tail and all are wonderful.
What especially captivated me was the effects of touching his horns in various ways, some very sensually described, and how Ez reacted to that. The transformation aspects were well told, his powers as an incubus added a note to the erotica that I felt made the scene overall just right.
If there is one aspect of the work that felt missing was Ez has a tail, but really nothing much is done with it. Perhaps telling of Ez binding Jonah with it in various ways, or noting what it was doing while they were entwined, might have added a bit more flavour overall.

Given that I haven’t read the balance of the series, and so I’m not sure of how things developed between the main characters, this is the first part of the series where Ez was revealed to be an incubus. The story has wonderful heat, the characters connect and it’s a really well told story. I’d like to see how the relationship between Ez and Jonah develops considering the balance of the series has been Jonah being with various beings and being intimate with them. It doesn’t seem to be an issue, which again speaks to the characters themselves. Still, perhaps more intimacy is something to explore and see what comes from that.
