Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on September 20, 2019
A telling of the story of Lilith, the powers that manipulated her, the curse she bears, and what comes from a choice made of anger instead of forgiveness and love.
The work is a deeply telling story that wraps itself around the mythos of Lilith, turning the texts and literature into something more passionate and emotional. The story falls somewhere between the mythos and adding pieces of possibilities to bring out a tale which seeks to understand more than simply accept what is provided.
Lilith is, of course, the focus of this exploration, from the Garden to the aftermath and all of the pain and suffering she faces and the choices made from them. It’s not a story taken lightly here, the reasoning and explanations feel right and seem to connect the various tales together which kept my attention overall.
Three out of five pitchforks.
As captivating as the work is, as telling as the story becomes there are some flaws in the editing that trip up the telling. The work needs another editing pass to bring more depth to the dialogue and to clean up the narrative. IT’s too choppy and unsure of itself and being do the passion and heartbreak doesn’t come through as it needs to in a work like this.
