Plot Summary

I always knew I wasn’t quite human, but not like… this.

Leander’s birthdays have always been anything but happy, but with an awkward kiss, a dead best friend, and the fear of being imprisoned for manslaughter, his 18th really takes the cake. When police show up to his home three years later, he’s ready to hand himself in, ready for it to be over – until a disembodied voice tells him to run, and he finds he can only oblige. Faced with the voice and the truth, Leander finds himself drawn into a world he’s always been unaware of and yet always a part of, into the lives of the man who made him, the man who makes him feel things he never has, and the man who scares him unlike anything else; men who are very much not human. With new abilities to discover, new enemies to fear, and new limits to find, it’s almost a bit too much to deal with – but there’s a promise he can’t ignore, the promise that he can bring back his friend, and for that he’ll do anything, even if it means risking his heart - and maybe his life - along the way.
