Plot Summary
On her seven thousandth year of studying ancient succubus literature, Silvy the elven scholar encounters a grimoire in which an immortal succubus named Dia resides. But here’s the catch: Dia’s actions are limited only to the words her reader decides to utter from her grimoire’s pages. It is the first succubus artifact of its kind that Silvy knew of, and she is determined to know its workings well.
Dia offers to help Silvy with her research by letting her read words from the grimoire out loud so she could observe its capabilities and limitations firsthand. But the thing is, every single sentence in it speaks of Dia’s shameless carnal desires... and they all involve Silvy, for some reason.
But hey, Silvy could just say that whatever happens afterward is for research purposes, right?
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 4, 2025
Silvy loves discovery and finding a book within which seems to be a succubus is a wonder. Perhaps she will learn something. Perhaps she will be taught something. Perhaps, when all is said, she’ll not find just a succubus, but something far more wonderful.
The work is a fantasy romance with a very strong magic and succubus theme. Written in a very fun style, perhaps with a little bit of an anime flavour within the characters at times, it is captivating from the first word to the last tease. There’s no sense of evil or nastiness in the story, though there is a tremendous amount of teasing and temptation which appealed to my sense of humour.
Dia, the succubus of the story, is not at all evil, and it is made very clear from the story that both succubi and incubi in this world were never evil in the first place. She’s a tease, a temptress and can twist and shape words to her advantage which leads to more passion and wonder for her and Silvy. I just adore her so very much, but I do wish that there had been a bit more time spent in telling about the history of succubi and incubi, what happened to them, which is a tragedy and honestly so very sad.
But Dia is still very much a delight, her teasing and tempting is wonderful and by the time that Silvy realizes what is happening, Dia has entwined herself and the passions and wonder that comes from the two being together is just amazing. There are moments of dominance, but they are not harsh, more a caress of pleasure offered and the promise of what could be if Silvy gives into her desires and allows Dia to do what she wants and needs.
Four out of five pitchforks.
A delightfully fun story with a succubus character that just made me smile from her first appearance. I do look forward to the next work in the series, not just to see more of Dia, but rather to learn more about the succubi and incubi in this story universe. There’s a lot of mythos to explore which really interests me. I dearly hope the fun tone and storytelling continues to delight and there are many stories to appear in the future.
