Plot Summary

It’s been two years since Allesia Caine sent an incubus screaming back to Hell on Valentine’s Day. It’s been almost as long since she disappeared into the Archive and hasn’t been seen since. And Morrow the succubus is taking that totally well and good, thanks for asking…

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 22, 2018

There are some things you really shouldn’t ask about. Perhaps one oof the most dangerous is to ask a succubus about her past, and how she is managing. For Morrow, there are some things that she doesn’t want to walk about, and there are some demons in the darkness who will discover that making a succubus angry is never a good idea.

The work is a fantasy adventure with a bit of an erotic tone set in the modern day. Mainly revolving around the main character Morrow, her friends and enemies, not to mention the demons and devils that creep into the story, it’s very much an exploration of her coming to terms with the past, dealing with the present, and seeking something better than the future that she might be facing.

Beyond that, the story is immensely complicated, the story universe has a lot of paths and twists to be explored and while some are, there are others that hint at events and possibilities but gloss over them a bit. It’s still so very atmospheric and being so give everything a lot of depth which is so very interesting.

Morrow, the succubus and main character, isn’t stereotypical, though there are some aspects of her that are so very dark. At the same time her succubus nature is part of her, but doesn’t control her and she has overcome the darkness that seeps from some of the other characters, including the incubus of this story who is so very stereotypical and really not that interesting overall.

Tree and a half out of five pitchforks.

The work closes in an interesting way, and overall the background and history of the succubi and incubi in this story universe is filled in for the most part. With that said, there are quite a number of story threads and possibilities left to explore. Given the series this work is part of, that would be interesting to see develop further and see where that all went.
