Plot Summary
It has been a month since Lady Catherine Seymour became entangled with the incubus Lucien Chevalier, agreeing to become his constant food source in exchange for deliverance from the terrible illness that claimed her husband and his family. From the outside, she appears to be nothing more than a distraught widow in mourning, but, her days and nights are filled with lustful encounters, as Lucien does everything he can to make her into the perfect meal. As she adjusts to her new found, sexual freedoms, darkness descends, both in the form of her husbands bitter spirit and Lucien's true darkness.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on May 13, 2018
Catherine’s life has changed in ways that a proper Victorian would pale at the thought of. As for Lucien, her fall continues to amuse and delight him and she will never escape his dark plans.
The work is a very short, what I call a pamphlet, erotic hot flash set in the Victorian age. It’s more a story of the main character falling to the incubus of the work, much of the story revealing his powers as an incubus overall. The erotica simmers, spiking at a few points, but overall it’s less about the erotica than it is about the main characters becoming entangled and dependant upon each other in a symbiotic relationship.
Lucien, the incubus of the work, remains a cypher, a mystery that is present throughout, but most of his character is shaded behind the need both characters have. At times a bit frustrated, others very tender and yet when the main characters are entangled, it is their passions that take over all else. There is a turn in Lucien however, becoming somewhat evil and intending to bring Catherine to heel before him and what comes after is something uncertain really.
Three out of five pitchforks.
The story remains both mystery and passions which work together well in creating the mood and tone. How the work closes leads towards the next work in the series and I do wonder about that as it never came to be which is a shame. I still feel that Catherine would become a succubus, all of the signs are there, and that would have been so very interesting by far.
