Series History

The original Jinni was created out of inspiration from a painting by artist Victoria Frances, using an early version of Daz Studio, and a basic Aiko 3 model. After experimentation with poses and a customized materials file, using Daz Studios cell shade render he finally had a picture that was unique. During this time he was (and still is) also a webcomic reader, and two of those comics, The Devils Panties, and Blue Crash Kit, had tutorials about running a webcomic. The picture he produced, as well as the tutorials prompted a story, and he started to create pages.

Early pages were very crude, but as time has progressed his abilities have increased. Due to extensive spelling grammar and other errors through out the comic, as well as various methods of compositing, the artist is "Remastering" the pages.

Also due to both the remastering work, and a desire of what he has heard of as "real life" he has cut back his updates from Monday Wednesday and Friday, to Tuesday and Friday.

Art Style

Each page of page of blood bound is formed from various renders using Daz Studio, some with a backdrop and some without, depending on the needs of the story. Photoshop was used to composite each page and add any effects, but more recently Manga Studio 4 EX has been used. A typical page has one splash of colour (red being used most) to highlight an emotional or dramatic event or object.

The World of Blood Bound

A world that resembles our own, however there are more than just Humans as the sentient races. Demons, Creatures like Vampires and Lycans, and even half humanlike animals populate this world. The situation of the world and the childlike nature of the humans means that all other sentients live in hiding, with their own culture government and lifestyles, protected from human intervention by Elders, Guardians like Christine, and perhaps even a secret society of Humans. The only interaction between the Human world and that of the "Inhumans" seems to be based on feeding, be it blood, flesh or souls. But by and large the Inhumans keep clear of Humans unless they really need to.

There are businesses that tend to the needs of the Humans that are run by Inhumans, for example Blood Banks are a means of supplying fresh whole blood to the heamovours as well as a source of funding by selling the excess blood to human hospitals. The biggest Blood Bank company in the human world, the "Red Crux" is owned by the various councils of elders around the globe.

The Church

Bastion of religious thought for the Human world, the church encompasses the globe, with a hierarchy of Papalistic intent, from Shamans to Priests, Archbishops to deacons. Most of the church is unaware of the existence of the Inhumans, though some higher ups and a secret order within the organization are not only aware but consider them to be the essence of evil, and wish only for them to be destroyed.

Ordo Insegnamentum Malum

A certain organization of the Church, the "Order For the Study of Evil" is hidden from the public's eye, though it has existed since the beginning of human organized religion; Only a few in power know of its existence. The Ordo spends a lot of its time studying vampires claiming them as the root of all evil.

Inhumans

They are the boogiemen, the trolls, the vampires and lycans, the fae, the furries, the undead and the never alive. And for the most part, they just want to be left alone to live their lives. They have families, work for a living, and avoid contact with the Humans as much as possible. Of course there are exceptions...

Guardians Inhuman Law Enforcement

Inhumans charged with keeping the boundaries between Humans and Inhumans. They are often dressed like Human police and operate in a similar manner. They are also known as "Inhuman Law Enforcement Officers"

Red Crux

No relation to the real world "Red Cross" but rather a corporation run by Inhumans that deals with the Human world. Mostly dealing with Blood Donations from Humans, a percentage of it is siphoned off to the blood consuming portion of the Inhuman community (not enough for Inhumans not to take Human lives) and sell the surplus to Human hospitals at a profit, helping fund the various Inhuman communities around the world.

Temple

Information is scarce. The only known thing as of now, is that it appears to be something of a church for Vampires.

Christine La-Rouge

A vampire whose origins are unknown to all around her. Found in an alley by Christine La Rouge, Jinni was taken in by her benefactor who found Jinni to be totally ignorant of the world. However Jinni revealed to her parts of her history, where she had been kept as a caged animal and tortured by rouge elements of the Adamist church for at least 200 years as part of a study of Evil. What no one is supposed to know is that Jinni is a creation of Lilith the Deity of vampires, and is the receptacle of Lilith’s spirit, after Lilith’s apparent execution by her fellow deities.

Jinni has learned a lot since her freedom, and even had a brief fixation on playing World of Warcraft that was nearly detrimental to her new relationship with a succubus, Sassy. Jinni has also experimented with wine, and has decided, (after vomiting all over the lap of another vampire) that moderation is key.

After feasting on blood laced with fear (which acts much like PCP for vampires) Jinni was sent into a rehabilitation center where, in her mind, something is happening. While she mostly seems to be quite mild and playful, she also is capable of cruelty.

Christine was born in the late 1800s in Quebec to a nondescript family of vampires. In the early 1900s she joined the Canadian Dominion Police and continued to serve during the amalgamation into to Royal Canadian Mounted Police until she faked her death in a shootout in Montréal. From there she moved south of the border and joined the Inhuman Law Enforcement (ILE) and became an inner-city patrol officer. She gained the admiration of her peers and respect of her superiors as she rose in the ranks until she had become a precinct captain. She caught the attention of Anubis, the city captain and the two became lovers, however this relationship was less than ideal, as both were sexually polygamous , but Christine demanded sexual monogamy from all her lovers where Anubis would not “Keep it in his pants”. Christine also formed a tight friendship with benefits with Brunhilde Sorrows, another vampire who served in the ILE in her area but at a different precinct. This would later evolve into a full relationship.

Christine discovered a naked starved girl in an alley while on a blood hunt, and nearly fed from her, until she discovered that the girl was also a vampire, and Christine became a surrogate mother, under orders of the local “Counsel of Inhuman Elders” where she has been teaching the vampire, whom she named Jinni, about life.

After the death of Anubis, Christine was appointed as the chief of the city inhuman police, and has been dealing with the various problems that have arisen, from an Elders murder, to attacks from an unknown type of creature, as well as the relationship issues between herself and her now life partner, and a young naive vampire girl and her succubus girlfriend.

Christine is very focused on duty, and desires only to benefit the In-humans in her area, She also has a quick temper, and a well developed sense of irony.

She is also a closet brony.

Jinni Darque

Succubus daughter of Countess Amelia, and known as Sassy to her friends, and Demona while performing as an erotic dancer. Born in Vienna in the 18th Century, she was the only daughter of the Countess to survive the trials that would give her the right to life. After the trials she left Vienna and went to live in the newly human discovered “New World” settling in what would hundreds of years later as Kentucky. She made a profitable living as a prostitute, where she was able to feed on sexual energy, as well as make money while avoiding her mothers ire. Over time Sassy has had many relationships, mostly with like minded inhumans of various species, from other demons, vampires and weres.

In modern times, Sassy started working as an erotic dancer, where she was able to feed on sexual energy from her audience, as well as make enough money for her small one bedroom apartment. Sassy met Christine La Rouge during an intimate moment with a free-were known as Anubis. Despite this less than ideal introduction, Sassy formed a very loose friendship with the vampire, whom was able to rebuff all her advances, and in time, Christine introduced her to Jinni Darque. From there a relationship formed between the two girls.

In an effort to increase the social standing of House Amelia, the Countess traced her daughter down and confronted her about her relationship with a vampire, rather than breeding with an incubus and bearing more succubi. This lead to Sassy and Jinni going out, and in an act of rebellion, Sassy got tattooed. This is a serious taboo in succubi culture who believe in the purity of fleshly beauty. On their return the conflict escalated until the Countess left. Sassy is very highly charged, as a succubus would be by nature, but very loving and loyal to those whom she has formed an attachment with. She is a lover not a fighter, but there are times when she is willing to take a random humans life.

Brunhilde Sorrows

Information
Species Vampire
Gender Female
Relatives Christine La Rouge

Preferring to be known simply as Sorrows, she was born in the Germanic states of the holy roman empire somewhere in the early 1500′s. By stowing away on an early colony ship in England she made her way to the New World, and was present at the founding of the Roanoke Island Colony. When the colony leader returned to England to set up supply and trade, Sorrows was responsible for the colonists disappearance.

After this Sorrows disappeared into the wilderness following native trails and tribes, and wandered across the continent. She assisted in the occasional massacre of various peoples both native and immigrant and watched as the continent changed into a nation of various states. She learned patience and guile, but always held to her belief in human inferiority, but was able to change her methods to reflect the growing human population.

In modern times she joined the ILE and met Christine and Anubis. She formed a friendship with benefits with Christine and accepted Christine’s polygamous nature for a while, and rebuffed Anubis’ amorous advances. Even though Sorrows anti human feelings remained strong, she felt that the killing of children was wrong, which led to her being punished for failing in a mission of extermination of a human family. After the punishment was carried out, under the newly appointed City ILE Chief Christine La Rouge, she and Christine cemented their relationship as life partners, with Christine even becoming monogamous.

Sorrows is playful even with her age, and knows that she may only have a century or century and a half left of life left to her. She harbors an intense hatred of humans, which stemmed more from the culture she was born into, rather than any specific thing that humans have done. She also does not like bound-weres, but is comfortable with Free weres like Anubis.

Chimera

Catgirl, with the morals of an alley cat. Best friends with Sassana, they often hunt together, both for fun and for sustenance. She has left now leaving Sassana a very upset little demon

Mystroka

Mystroka is a darker catgirl, currently employed by Anubis as his personal assistant. She is very frigid, something that Christine likes, since Anubis has a reputation of getting any Inhuman girl he likes.

Anubis

Anubis is older than old has seen all and done all. Looks similar to the Egyptian God of death and mummification. Thinks of humanity as rather a cute species, but has no problem with dealing with humans in a terminal manner. Or creatures either. Is good friends or possibly lover with Christine, but being a beast he’s not known for his fidelity. It was reveled that he also was the council of elders for his city, but an internal power struggle has seen him being executed. After his execution, he has been a busy Deity, forming a relationship with Nyx, as well as keeping his continued life secret. He had two male assistants, an angel and an incubus, but after the death of the incubus at the hands of a cannibalistic female human, he ended up taking the human on as a replacement.

Mathiaus

All that is known at the moment is that he is a friend of Christine's. Oh, and he's cute and unfortunate for us gay.

Shalimar Amelia (Countess)

Elitest Succubi, and the mother of Sassy. She is none to happy about having her daughter around a vampire, her reasoning that vampires are a sub species and not really worth having around...at all; (think racist) and wants Sassy to come home with her. She also seems to be a devout follower of the "Goddess" but...we know she's a bit of a hypocrite. Okay, maybe a lot. Once she finds out that Sassy got a tattoo and still refuses to come home, she storms off. Later on, Shalimar is the unwilling host of Anubis and his partner Nyx. When they decide to move on from her home, Nyx kills Shalimar by drowning her in a bathtub of blood.

Hooded Figures

A council of elders who govern over the creatures in the city, their names species are unknown to everyone except to each other, yet they rule over the creatures with a mixture of terror and compassion.

Lilith (Ghostly Female)

The Ghostly Female that has been haunting Jinni's mind is finally revealed. Lilith, a vampire deity, and true mother of Jinni. She is the one that has been whispering to Jinni, comforting her, and helped her keep a shred of her sanity while she was "in the care of" the Ordo Insegnamentum Malum. Anubis and Nyx, and other deities have worked out that Lilith is now residing in the body of Jinni.

Nyx

Younger half sister of Lilith, she is a succubus deity, whom the succubi and incubi worship. Officially she has not been seen for millennia and her place as head of the Imperial council is occupied by a dynastic Empress. However she is still around, and works under the name of Ginger, as a trainee priestess for her own religion. Relatively amoral, she killed Shalimar in a bathtub of blood, a method once used by Lilith to kill some of the succubi priestesses before Lilith was terminated by the other deities. She did it to see if it was enjoyable. It was to her. She is in a non exclusive sexual relationship with Anubis, but seems to harbor some jealousy towards Christine.

Creatureology

Non Demon Creatures

Vampires

During the human bronze age, succubi and incubi would feast on the souls of humans that they copulated with. At that stage the human sperm and ovum were particularly strong, and pregnancy's would often happen. The offspring was a monstrous combination of the two species, with the seductive look of the cubi, as well as some of their abilities with flight, but the bloody thirstiness of humans. These offspring could breed among themselves, but with the amount being born of Cubi Human couplings the population skyrocketed. In time human sperm and egg cells become less capable of the cross breeding and human cubi couplings became barren. However the cross breed became a new species of its own. Known as Vampires.

The vampire species is noted for its occasional dietary needs. Though capable and willing to eat any foods and drinks they do have a requirement for blood. Human blood is considered to be the preferred blood, though they can make do, for a period of time with any mammalian blood. Vampires are considerably stronger than humans, and are able to develop wing structures from their back. The quick healing properties of the vampire allows the wounds from the wings coming out of their back and most other superficial wounds to heal very quickly, and major injuries to heal over a period of time. An injury that would be fatal to a human, may only be an inconvenience for a vampire. A vampire can be killed though the destruction of the brain or by dissection. They are not known for having any substantial arcane abilities

Furries

The furry species resemble anthropomorphic animals and generally have an intelligence similar to that of humans and in some cases superior. Different animal species represented by the furry gives that furry its own particular abilities, including enhanced eyesight, hearing or physical prowess. Different species also have their own dietary needs, from herbivores to carnivores and of course omnivores. They also have a similar mortality to humans and do not generally possess any arcane abilities.

Werewolves

The werewolf is akin to vampires in having special dietary needs, they need raw meat, the bloodier the better. Human is preferred but they can make do with beef, lamb, and pork...for awhile. Different from Furry Wolfs in that they are more "wild". In control of themselves, yes, but have that human tendency for needless violence. Their natural shape is the man/wolf yet their arcane abilities allow them to shape shift into a pure wolf form. They can be killed by decapitation, vivisection, or destruction of the heart. In the ILE, they are assigned to handlers. These "Canine-units" are used for various tasks, some being similar to "sniffer" dogs as well as guard dogs. Werewolves are kept "dumb" by careful watch of their breeding. Those that show more then the allotted intelligence are quickly killed off because they tend to be more violent and more uncontrollable. Though some are known to slip through.

Demons

Many subspecies exist in the demonic species, from Imps and Incubi to Angels and Cherubs Some of which are listed here

Succubi

One of the more delicate groups of Demons, they are female demons that are sustained by the souls of the sexually aroused. Not known for violence, they use various techniques to create a high level of arousal in their prey, ranging from feigned innocence, to filling the air with pheromones.

Like all demons, and vampires, they have wings that can sprout from the back and the ability to take flight. They also have a tail and horns which they can make transparent when on the prowl. Arcane abilities among succubi seem to consist of creating illusions of their appearance, though other abilities have been reported.

Incubi

The male version of Succubi. They also are sustained by the souls of the sexually aroused, and are quite alluring. They have yet to make an appearance in Blood Bound.

Deities

Deities are humans and non humans that are gifted with unusually high arcane abilities. They are born to their species in the normal way, but their abilities manifest upon reaching physical maturity. At this time the normal lifespan increases and the aging process slows down to such an extent that they are seen by many as being immortal. Previously religions had been formed around them and they openly practiced their abilities in order to keep control of warring factions both inter and infa species. However in modern times they are often mistaken for normal creatures or humans and often control individual inhuman counsels from within.

Lilith

Honored as the mother of vampires, Lilith was a deity of them. Born of a Succubi mother who became pregnant to a human male during the human iron age she was an only child for 8 years. Then her younger sister Nyx was born. From the beginning there was friction between the sisters, as Veena was born of a coupling between Incubi and Succubi, and therefor was not "Half Blood". At coming of age Lilith's deity gifts emerged and she left her home and met a Human Deity called Adam. This relationship didn't last long and she discovered he had met another Deity and abandoned her. Thus she started to gather other vampires into a group, which formed into a cult surrounding her. As her influence spread among vampires her hatred towards her sister and Adam manifested in the group (that grew to encompass the entire new species). The vampires became dangerous to all other species and placed an impossible problem for the other deities.

In the end she was captured and bound and 4 Deitys, Human, Cubi, Angel and an Hecatonchire. This group included Adam and Nyx.

Lilith was terminated and her influence over her vampires wained, Her cult became an institution and shes is often thought of as a myth.

Nyx

Half sister of Lilith, born of the same mother, but also a incubi father, she too was blessed to become a deity. The sibling rivalry between the sisters in the end led to Nyx being involved in her sisters apparent death. Her current whereabouts are unknown and the religion she formed around herself has become more intolerant of "lesser" beings like vampires.

Adam

Deity of humans, he was born in the early iron age.
