Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on October 31, 2023

Not all plans go exactly as they are meant to, and on Halloween it’s more likely than not one will find themselves tricked and being part of a someone else’s treat. Those coming to the party won’t be the same, and for Linda, she’ll be more than the life of the party. She’ll be the party maker.

The work mixes a number of fetishes including transformations, both physical and gender, as well as mind control, personality change, domination and submission and still more. The main group of characters are twisted and transformed by the cursed costumes they are given and fall away to their new personalities and physical forms.

The transformation and mind control scenes are very well told, they aren’t a snap of fingers and it’s over sort of thing. I enjoyed how they are drawn out, described fully, and in being so those fetish aspects start the erotic heat simmering. Save for one character, most become very much bimbos or certainly very submissive, so as such a strong bimbo theme runs throughout.

As for Linda, she is transformed into the succubus of the work, calling herself Lilith. That transformation has lovely heat, the description of her physical transformation I liked very much. The mental change is as slow and overpowering as the physical one and when Lilith comes fully into the story, it works really well.

She’s very dominant, very much a succubus, if hyper-focused on sex. But there’s also something of a plan formed within her character which casts out across the story universe, giving a glimpse of the power and force she is. She doesn’t feel exactly evil, though there are hints of that to some extent. She’s a catalyst to push the story forwards, build heat, and that works really well.

It’s more of a mixture of transformation and mind control than really a story about a succubus. Lilith is present in the story, she’s directing things, but overall she felt a bit separated from most of what was going on. That’s not to say this wasn’t a fun work by any means. This isn’t quite a story about a succubus so much as a story with a succubus as one of the main characters.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

The work ends on a note that would follow nicely into a follow-on story, but I’m not expecting that to appear. Still, the power Lilith is, how those around her change to her whims is a delightfully interesting thing to wonder about. Focusing in on Lilith, perhaps going back to why all of this happened and where that might take her is a thought. Still a very fun piece of erotica overall and as all of this author’s works, very well done.
