Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on November 4, 2018
The work is a collection of short stories, most a handful of pages, with a bit of erotic heat and quite a lot of story to tell overall. The theme that carries throughout is the concept of supernatural beings in the world of retail and some of their encounters.
In the work Convenient Companions, a succubus deals with a harpy and her prey in the way only a succubus really can. In the most evil way possible, but sexy.
It’s a fun little story, the tone is a bit dark, the overall encounter is focused on getting past the start, into Susie, the succubus of the work, having her way, to a point, and then closing on something of a troubling tone. There is a bit of erotic tones to the story, but it’s more of a succubus showing another being who is in charge and then taking over.
Susie, the success of the story, is rather snarky, a little short tempered, and mostly hints at her succubus nature for the most part. Still, there’s something both dark and attractive about her and that does work well here to tell the story and I thought it was a unique story to tell in a unique way.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
It’s bit dark and a little forced around the edges but it has something in it, which I think is the snark of Susie that holds things together and that I think worked really well.
Three out of five pitchforks for the collection as a whole.
It’s an interesting mix of stories and characters, and there is a lot of possibilities to go with them. Almost all of the stories could well be turned into longer works, there’s just enough of a tease to things and the characters themselves have that spark that would make it work.
