Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 25, 2025
A love lost brings Mark to seek out a new beginning far away from the memories of the past. But there’s something odd about the town he finds, a place with mysteries, and a legend that none will truly tell about. But Jenny is a breath of life, a spark of passions reignited, and her secret may be what they both need forever.
The work is a short, but really well told story of mystery and desire wrapped in the powers of a succubus and the soul of a man seeking what he believes to be impossible. It’s passionate, telling and captivating, the characters have such depth and emotion which brings out so many moments in the storytelling that are just a delight.
The mystery builds between Mark and Jenny, the main characters, and as that happens, there’s hints of the succubus within Jenny which eventually emerges and takes the story in a direction which at first seems not to be a likely one. But it does and it’s really well done in the emotions, needs, and revelations between them both.
The erotica simmering through the work, flashing into heat here and there, but it’s not over the top overall. There are a couple of points where the scenes of domination being swapped between Jenny and Mark are a little odd, but I can overlook them. I will not there is one scene at the end of the work where a sign is turned once by Mark, and then again by Jenny and it feels like an editing error as it makes no sense in the context of the story.
Jenny, the succubus of the work, is very much dominant, she is a force to be reckoned with which I delighted in. Not at all stereotypical, she’s mot exactly evil, but rather possessed of a need and a power which she revels in. It’s quote a shift from her human form to her succubus one, but the hints of her true self before the entanglement happens are perfect.
Four out of five pitchforks.
The work closes in a way that really needs something to follow on from. Both Mark and Jenny offer so many stories to tell in a small town captured in their passion and that would be a delight to see explored. Just a really well written succubus story that is unexpected and leaves such delight too.
