Plot Summary

Chloe has a problem and it’s a huge one. Her best friend has a lot of luck suddenly and when she asks about it, Chloe finds herself being taken into the world of the fae and meeting an incubus who has a desperate need. Perhaps in truth they are more desperate than they know.
The work is a romance fantasy mystery erotic story with some odd twists and tones that can be both interesting and dearly frustrating as well. The tone of the characters, the dialogue, the oddities of what happens in the story create something of a mishmash of threads that just bring something strange overall.
That’s not a terrible thing, but because of the tone of the story, things are very awkward and unsure between the main characters and hen the story turns towards the erotic, it feels wrong and out of place with what came before. It’s transactional, which is the point of the story, and so the words spoken are a bit flat from Lukas even in the throes of passion and it bothered me.
The erotic scenes between the main characters have a very strong domination and submission theme, the more soft and desirable aspects I thought were lovely, the teasing and delight was lovely. Even when things were a bit over the top it wasn’t too much so. But the tone of the dialogue had a flatness to it that I felt should have been more passionate and wild rather than as muted as it was much of the time.
Lukas, the incubus of the work is rather odd overall. At the start he is quite unlikeable through his manner and attitude and that really bothered me. The reasons for that take a long time to be explained and honestly I think that needed to be more of a focus about him. He is very much an incubus, I adored the parts of the story which told of his tail and how sensitive and talented it was of course. He i very much a creature of sex, desire and passion and in those respects the story tells that well. But then comes the odd tone of voice, the strange mannerisms and that takes forever to be dealt with and for him to open himself up and tell the story that matters.

the work closes in a way that feels right for the main characters at least in their relationship. It is however a bit odd in other respects, some of which feel rather flat and out of place. It’s a little too clinical when it should be passionate and sometimes the characters are just seem like they are sleepwalking through events. A bit of polish in the dialogue, a little less in the way of side paths that didn’t add a lot are more focus on the characters coming to terms with themselves I think is what is missing here.
