Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 12, 2025

Jacob and Rebecca have found a home, but there are secrets held within the walls to haunt them. The stories are telling, the past is unexpected. What happens when the stories become real and Rebecca seems not to be herself any longer?

The work is a very short hot flash of erotica which adds a bit of a haunted house and possession aspect to what happens. It’s a very quick story for the most part, rushing towards the erotica in the latter part of the story and to bring the climax to the fore. There is a strong sexual undercurrent from the beginning which then gets twisted by the succubus possession theme into a female dominant erotic work.

The erotica has some heat to it, the succubus possession aspects dance around the edges and while there are some clear points at which Rebecca seems to be possessed by a succubus, it’s not really that obvious. While she has red eyes, there are no signs of horns or tail. Being that for Jacob, it’s very much a dream, it might all be in his imagination in any case.

But the idea of Rebecca being possessed, or at least influenced by a succubus does fit the story well and it would have been interesting to see more of that come to the fore. It’s less a succubus story than something of a mystery. It feels like Rebecca is possessed, there are enough hints of that by far. But as for the succubus herself, that’s a very different and unanswered question.

Three out of five pitchforks.

The story ends on a note which really needs some sort of fallow on to it. Perhaps a bit further on the dreamscape, turning it into being more real. Perhaps taking Rebecca into the town and turning others into her thralls is an idea. There’s a lot of directions to take things towards and it would be something interesting to see.
