Desertion is a hanging offense, but Cletus Henry James isn’t worried. He’s two-thousand miles away, in the Pacific Northwest, where a Confederate train carrying a payload of gold is due through any day. All he has to do is take it.<br />

But robbery is never a simple thing, and when his luck turns south he’s forced to flee. The only problem is, there’s nowhere to go. Nowhere but AlbaMar, a piece of land so riddled with superstition, not even the Indians dare enter. He’s been warned, sure, but those are just stories.
