			The past is far better left buried than brought into the light of day. Some secrets come with a price and that price should never be paid. But fools do foolish things at their own risk and the reward can be earth shattering.

			The work is a long form story of horror, mystery and suspense which overall tells quite an interesting story, if in a slightly odd way. It reads more like a scene by scene description of a movie or something similar. The chapters are very short, the details are a bit thin and left to the imagination. The air of impending doom carries throughout, slowly building to the climax and that works well.

			There’s also a bit of a feeling of déjà vu here and there, some tropes appear, the occasional seeming nod to this or that science fiction or action series feels very familiar. With that said, the focus of the encroaching evil doesn’t quite give rise to really that much about them. It’s left to the reader to fill in the blanks and make sense of it all.

			As for the story title itself, while there are aspects of a succubus-like being of evil, they are so very ethereal in the story. They are pulling on the strings and making things happen for the most part. The question then becomes if they are even a succubus in the first place and that’s a bit difficult to say exactly. It’s all hints and whispers with the only statement of what they are being made by one of the characters twice and nothing more.

			Three out of five pitchforks.

			It’s really just skimming the surface to be a succubus story overall. It’s far more a thriller and somewhat horror story than anything else. There are some interesting moments, if a bit light on depth and texture which might have been explored further. As for the ending, I felt that was a bit bothersome, mostly in how that compared to the balance of the work and the story itself.
