	~~The Demon~~ in ~~Me kicks off a new series which is not quite paranormal romance and yet not quite urban fantasy either. Leading lady Eden~~, ~~is a psychic who is skeptical about her abilities - she thinks she's just a bit intuitive since her powers are somewhat erratic~~. ~~On Eden's first job as a police consultant, her powers~~ work ~~just fine, but as an unfortunate consequence of~~ her ~~first success, Eden ends up possessed by a demon. The demon was cursed by a witch 300 years ago~~ and ~~has been disembodied ever since, moving from host to host, but rarely able to communicate with them~~. ~~However, something about Eden~~'s powers makes it possible for him to not only speak to her mind to mind while resident in her body, but also to take an extremely appealing corporeal form during the daylight hours as long as he stays in close proximity to Eden.

	Now that the demon can actually communicate with a host, he can finally get help hunting down the witch who cursed him and make the witch break the spell. As nice and undemonlike and hot as Eden's new 'guest' seems, Eden keeps reminding herself that demons are tricky, lying and seductive but still the demon has managed to motivate Eden to take up his cause and to help him find a way to end his curse. The motivation - other than the fact he's ruining Eden's chances with the hunky policeman she's been crushing on? The demon's hosts all die a year after he has taken up residence.

	The demon was likable enough, if a bit possessive (pun intended) and his presence - despite the impending death part - actually changes Eden's life for the better and Eden was fine too. The story was cute and light but when I read the book I was expecting more of a romance and with the conflict between the demon and Eden over Eden's pursuit of the handsome cop, I wasn't sure whether to root for the beautiful blond human or the attractive demon. I actually liked the Demon in Me better after thinking on my reactions to the book when taken as more of a sexy urban fantasy. And since this wasn't an end-to-end romance, a less direct route to a HEA, along with a certain amount of world building can be justified and the ending with Eden's transition, plus the addition of angels to the mix, offers some promise as the series continues in Something Wicked out October 2010.
