			Lark knows she is being hunted. She seems him there in the distance, on the edge of finding her. But as much as she’s being hunted, she’s hunting him as well. A succubus has needs and desires, and whether he likes it or not, Nate will find himself drawn into Lark’s own.

			The work is a deliciously told encounter between two hunters in the midst of their own needs. The erotic heat is wonderful, the dialogue holds the emotions of the characters and they themselves have depth which delighted me.

			The interplay when the two come together is quite telling, both in what draws them together and how that unfolds. Lark’s internal monologue tells a lot about her, offers a glimpse into what drives her and that made for a captivating story. Nate is a bit of a mixture of fighting with himself, both in need and what drives him. It shows a lot of self-control, until he’s within reach of Lark at which point the heat takes over and that was something special.

			Lark isn’t, thankfully, stereotypical in her nature and personality. She is focused on Nate, which does make for moments of confusion and second guessing which reveals more about her than otherwise might have been. There’s not a lot told about how she came be there, what her goals are. That’s a bit of a shame as I think that would have given more to her character and filled in some questions about her.

			Written amazingly well, the story pulls on the reader, wanting to see what happens next. It’s a fully realized story, the ending has some satisfaction but there’s also a sadness. It’s balanced well, but it tugs on the story’s heartstrings and the question of what comes next for both characters leaves a bit of want in the end.

			Four out of five pitchforks.

			I’d really like to see a follow on to this work. Perhaps a series in which the two are encountering each other over and over, Lark just escaping or, perhaps, being captured more than once. It would also be interesting to see other succubi who aren’t as merciful as Lark is, or as wise. It’s just an amazing piece of succubus writing and very much enjoyed.
