			Darkness and disaster follow Violet and there is no escaping. Her anger builds, her truths will come to pass and those around her have no idea what they have unleashed at their own peril.

			The work is a very complicated story of darkness and angst wrapped around a series of mysteries, not the least of which is the main character herself. Very much a story of darkness and fate, there are hints and aspects of succubi and incubi within the pages, but they don’t really come to the fore. It’s all very much shaded and hints at things, but rarely comes to a focus to push the characters and story towards a resolution.

			This does make sense as the opening to the series, but at the same time things are so dearly scattered, the focus wanders, and I found myself reading all of the darkness and gloom, which is warranted for Violet mind you, and wondering why there weren’t more pauses to process things better.

			Three out of five pitchforks.

			The work closes in a way that leads obviously towards the next work in the series, but at the same time it, much like the main character, seems so dearly lost overall. There is a lot to build on, though the angst and darkness might need to be toned down a bit and allow for more world building between the disasters that befall Violet and give the mystery time to breathe. With that said, this work was, save for a little editing here and there, exactly like the first and that really was a disappointment. Perhaps that was an error and perhaps the author uploaded a new version, but both works are no longer available and I really cannot say.
