			Mark is a good man with a good soul who’s purpose in life draws him to fall into the orbit of Lilly. She’s odd, different, unexpected in many ways and despite himself, Mark finds he cannot let her go or her fate unfold. Lilly isn’t what she seems, succubi like her have to keep their secret. But there’s a deeper secret she guards against all. Except for Mark and once their lives entwine, both of their fates are sealed.

			The work is an exploration of the thoughts Lilly considers as she reflects on her situation, what she’s done in the past, and how her coming to meet Mark has brought something of a revelation to her. There is a small piece of erotica towards the close of the work, but this isn’t specifically erotica.

			Overall this is a story about the main character being shaped and in turn shaping the man who has become focused upon her. Being both so terribly sad and lost throughout the work, there’s a point where Lilly considers what is happening and realizes she might have found the thing she had been searching for. That internal monologue makes up much of this work, and within that comes a deep understanding of Lilly’s nature, a glimpse of her powers, and something of a wish that something else was possible.

			While Lilly can be described as a succubus, and for one small scene her true nature appears as an incubus brings a warning, she’s not so much evil as trapped within her own nature. The depths of that conflict play out in the story, she tries to sort out her feelings and in doing so there is a glimpse of her world that presses in, but doesn’t take over the story.

			It’s when Mark’s need to understand meets up with Lily’s past that the story turns and events bring about an ending that is so deeply captivating in the simplicity of what happens and the final thoughts that Lily expresses. It’s quite the emotionally captivating story and it well may be one of the most heart-wrenching stories that I have read in some time.

			Four out of five pitchforks.

			The ending is both expected and still offers an aspect of Lilly that gives a glimpse of something tragic and joyful as well. There really can’t be a follow on work, which is a shame honestly. That said, as a story about the inner thoughts of a succubus and those who become entangled with her, it shouldn’t be passed over by any means.
