			The world for Delilah is a mixture of passions, mysteries and questions throughout. Her heart revolves around her club, the world it contains, and the secrets that are never ending. But want brings need, and there is a need within her that returns when Bel enters her orbit. Can true love overcome fear, loss and the pain of others with dark plans plotting? Only time, and the truth, will see them through.

			The work is a very well textured story of desire, seduction, supernatural mystery and, perhaps most tellingly, the need to trust another to trust oneself. The writing is exceptionally vivid in the descriptions, the dialogue, and the plot has layers upon layers through which to discover. The mystery of Delilah, how Bel is brought into her world, how the two come together, the connections made, are exquisite. It’s very much an exploration of both of the main characters which takes the time to bring them both fully into being explored.

			The setting is fascinating, especially what happens within the walls of Delilah’s home and business. As for the human world, that’s a bit less so, almost feeling like it was seen though a dream rather than a reality. With that said, at times the story becomes a bit lost in the details, a look of characters other than the main ones. There’s a feeling of a lot of red herrings being placed in the story to confuse things and it happens quite a lot. I’m not sure that really works well and perhaps a bit more focus on the main characters and setting aside the balance of the series connections might have worked better.

			Delilah, the succubus of the work, is wonderfully seductive and passionate. An absolute joy from her first appearance, how she acts, her words, the impact her presence makes, is so very much a succubus with all her power held, but also leashed. There’s a contradiction in her that fascinated me and I would have liked to have had that explored far more than it was. She’s not at all stereotypical, her form isn’t as one might expect, but works really well in this story when she makes her true self known. She’s unique, a story within herself and it would have been nice to know more about succubi in this story universe as it seems to be a bit different and yet so very familiar at the same time.

			Four out of five pitchforks.

			How the story closes feels somehow disappointing compared to the balance of the story, the intrigue and the mysteries left to explore. While this is part of a series and it does need to lead towards the next work, that’s done in a way that feels very forced and out of place. There’s not the resolution I expected to find, nor is there an explanation that really fits what happened to draw Delilah and Bel. The questions remain, the plot dangles and it’s a shame that some sort of closure beyond the attraction had been. Perhaps the next work will return to them, but as each work seems to have its own focus, that well may never be.
